I watcd 3 movies in cinemas this week.

Yes I guess I ought to be shot, for obvious reasons. But well, out of the 3, 2 are good. The other one was inspiring in another way.

Watching good movies aren’t a waste of time, that’s for sure.

#1: 游龙戏凤 (Look for a star)

Photobucket

The movie was okaaaaay. Got kinda draggy in the end imo, too idealised, and too many jokes abt flat chested women (which got kinda irritating for obvious reasons).

Andy Lau however, is gorgeous while Shu Qi is very pretty.

More importantly, I have decided that Shu Qi’s Milan is probably the most powerful woman in the world. Imagine this: you made a billionaire who had 3 failed marriages fall hopelessly in love with you, set his work aside to stay with you, got him dejected like hell after rejecting his proposal; made him go to a tv programme to chase you back and you didn’t show up, only to tell him that was because you didn’t want people to be staring at you (like the billionaire would like to be shown rejected in front of the entire chinese population).

The best part is, after all the humilation he suffered, you happily took out a male wedding ring and says ‘marry or don’t marry?’ and he readily agreed like it’s the best thing that happened in his life.

Inspiring. I shall start by feigning innocence, and start pouting often.

#2: Suspect X

Surprisingly good. But I should have known better, since this story won the author his first literature prize.

There’s no need to watch the Galileo series before watching this movie, as they didn’t bring over any content from the tv series. No chim chim physics theory in this movie, just simple deductions and reasoning, with a strong point to ponder after watching the movie.

To what extent would you sacrifice for the person you love?

This movie won’t be half as good without Tsutsumi Shinichi. Though his existence proved that very flaw that bugged Galileo: using guest actors that are way better than Fukuyama Masaharu. Fukuyama has quite an weak existence in the movie imo, when he’s supposed to be the lead. Apart from the acting part, Galileo (Fukuyama) was overshadowed by Ishigami (Tsutsumi), since they are both geniuses, yet one devoted his love, while the other doesn’t even freaking know what love is.

But hey, come to think of it, he got overpowered quite a couple of times by other guest stars too. Guess…he’s in charge of being the eye candy D:

#3: Okuri Bito (The Departures)

I bet it came to Singapore so quickly because of the Oscar award -.-

To digress, I went to GV today to see 2 more Japanese movies coming up within the next 2 weeks. Wow the ultimate Japanese movie comeback. D:

Quite a light movie despite the heavy theme. It’s unusual that this movie can win the Oscars, not that it’s not good, but because behind the seemingly non-mainstream theme, lies a easy to understand story. And I thought Oscars films are all those chim chim ones. Believe me, I don’t even understand what Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon is about when I watched it.

Perhaps what made this movie so enjoyable was the neutralization of the sorrows of death, yet retaining the factors that would touch one’s heart. Some of the parts were really quite funny XD. I loved Daigo’s innocent look no matter the circumstances. Perhaps that’s the reason why he can do this job well.

The best thing is that the ending 见好就收. Watch it and you will understand what I mean. But personally I preferred Suspect X than this. I guess that’s because Suspect X has an ending that’s to my preference.

I would love to rant more about these movies, but I do need to rush work. I wonder if I can manage to pull a no-sleep tonight T_T.

Hyakuman-en to Nigamushi Onna

I admit I cried like crap. Haii.

Had a devastating day, cried for about 2 hours prior to watching the movie, and cried for another 1 hour while watching and after the movie ended.

This is a movie that will go on my favorite list for sure.
